SIZE RECOMMANDATIONS

The size should be chosen either by the size of the room either by the size of your furniture.

If you choose your rug according to the size of the room, make sure your rug is at least 25 cm away from each wall. Make sure also it will not disturb any door opening or closet opening.

If you choose a rug for your living room, make sure the rug goes partially or entirely under the sofas or armchairs.

If you choose a rug for your bedroom, make sure the rug is at least over 70 cm on each side of the bed so you can comfortably step down on it.

If you choose a rug for your dining room, make sure that the rug will be big enough so that the chairs are still on the rug when sitting and when pulling back the chair to sit or stand up. There is nothing worse than a chair sitting between the rug and the floor, it will be wobbly and uncomfortable.

HAND LOOM

Hand-loomed making is an art and skill that is limited to certain regions and cultures.

Rugs are made on hand-operated looms with hundreds of plush, twisted and slightly felted yarns, creating a contemporary look and feel well-suited for modern living environments. In some cases, the yarn is held to the warp rolled around a rod that determines the height of the pile of the rug. In others it is simply crossed over.

HAND tufted

It all starts when our designer draws the design on a white paper and a graph is created. A frame will then be created with a designed canvas on a cloth of right dimensions. Then artisans start weaving using a gun-tufting machine. Gun machine is used for punching the yarn into the frame according to the design. When the process is completed, we add a backing as secondary for adding strength and durability to the carpet. Tufted technique can be done in various pile heights and is often called cut-pile.

HAND knotted

The making of hand knotted rugs is the most deliciated technique which requests high craftsman ship skills from specialized artisans. To create the surface of the rug, the artisans individually incorporate each knot, row by row. The shape and thickness of the knot offers different results; the number of knots per square meter increases the quality, precision and durability of the rug. This is the costliest process as each knot is handmade which is extremely time consuming. This technique allows very detailed designs to be created.

Flatweave or Kilim

A flatweave rug is any rug that is constructed without including any knots at all. Tightly interweaving the thread of the weft in front and behind of the warp creates flat weave or kilim as it is known in Persian. As it is called it will create a flat surface with no pile. The technique is often used to make fabrics for tapestries but can be used to produce entire rugs. All manner of colors and designs can be created.

How to choose your color :

Designers recommend to have a maximum of three main colors in a room.

So, when choosing your rug color, make sure you are not adding a fourth one.

It will be better to match it with another element of the room (a piece of furniture, the wall, a painting etc…) so it creates a link and an atmosphere.

In the same time, make sure to have 2 colors at least in your room. So, it creates a contrast. Rug can be a big piece of your room so make sure to contrast it with another big piece of your room (bed, table, sofas etc…).
